OOC: Sorry for the time delay, but here it is guys!!!
IC: King Aragorn was ready to give his speech at the Minas Tirith City Hall. He saw reporters out in the audience and knew that this speech was surely going to make waves in the national news media. Aragorn was donning a three-piece suit with a black coat, black slacks, and a silver vest. His shirt was red, and his tie was a striped red and silver to complement the rest of the outfit. The King mosied over to the podium, took a sip of water, cleared his throat and began to speak.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, my fellow Gondorians, and NCSA citizens abroad, I come before you today to speak on the upcoming presidential election. I firmly believe that this election will be a turning point in NeoConfederate History, but whether it shall be for good or ill I know not. For too long has this nation been eating itself alive, mainly due to the argument of State's rights vs big, centralized government. We had two Columbian Secessions, and the state of Sparta seceded for a short time before coming to their senses. The secessionists feel as our founding fathers did in 1861. They believe that State sovereignty has been eroded to such a point that this Confederacy is no longer a viable nation. I disagree, but I do believe that there is a way to prevent more internal strife from ever happening again, save for a terrorist state. What this country desperately needs is a leader who will understand the Constitutional balance between what the rights of a state are, and what the power of the Confederal Government is. The NCSA doesn't need a president who forces states to build things that they don't wish to, such as interstates, railroads, and airports! A State has the right to say what is and what isn't built within their sovereign lands. We must allow States to choose their own paths, and trade with each other as they please. Even if the New Constitution passes, the same rules still apply. We must all remember that the Confederate Government derives its power from the states, and that they are sovereign, each guaranteed a government of its choosing. On the Converse, the Confederate Government should have some necessary powers, but they need serious defining. The incoming president needs to understand that the biggest issue is the National Military. We need comprehensive legislation pushed for by a leader. That legislation must regulate the way the NeoConfederate Military may go about its business, especially when dealing with under what grounds they may enter a State, with or without its consent. What also needs to be talked about is the issue of warrants. Is a warrant needed for the CBI to enter a state and simply investigate a possible national offence? What the answer to that is could be up to the Supreme Court in the end, but we need a President who is not afraid to enforce the laws of this nation. Nullification must also be dealt with, and a simple action of a Presidential Administration could be to file a lawsuit to see of Nullification is Constitutional or not. We need a President who will deliver on all their promises, and find a middle ground to all the aforementioned issues. It is therefore that I offer no endorsement to any party or candidate, but simply hope for a bipartisan president who can get things done without gridlock and animosity towards those they disagree with. The NeoConfederate States of America need an honest president who will actively seek out and find solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. Thank you all for your time, and I will now be taking any questions that the media may have."
King Aragorn stood a the podium, grinning from ear to ear, and expectantly awaiting the barrage of questions that was to come.
